As we get busier and lazier, food delivery apps get more popular.Us Foodsdecided to put together a survey to find out what apps people were using, what customers expected from them, and to find out the driver’s side of the story. One item from the survey worth noting came from the “Drivers Behaving Badly” section. On a scale from 1-to-10, customers rated a driver nabbing a fry from the bag during a delivery an 8.4 on the “unacceptable” scale.
Unfortunately, 28% of the time, your worst fears are being realized because the drivers are indeed helping themselves to some of your vittles. That leads to 85% of customers saying they’d love to see restaurants invest in some form of tamper-resistant packaging to protect the valuable food inside…although it’s not clear how thrilled those same customers would be with paying the increased price to get it.
Here are some other interesting factoids the survey found:
- Uber Eats is the most popular app, followed by GrubHub, DoorDash, and Postmates.
- The longest most are willing to wait for food is 40 minutes, and 25% are willing to wait an hour or more.
- The number one customer complaint with food delivery is the food not showing up warm or fresh…followed by late delivery and the order being wrong.
- The number one driver complaint is poor, or no, tipping…followed by the restaurant not having food ready on-time and customer instructions not being clear on the app.
