McDonald's Famous McRib Returns to Restaurants Beginning Today

McRib lovers rejoice - your favorite sandwich has returned to 10,000 McDonald's restaurants around the country - but you'll want to hurry because it'll only be featured on the menu for a limited time.

The seasoned boneless pork sandwich featuring tangy barbecue sauce and topped with onions on a sesame seed roll, made its legendary debut back in 1981, but a lackluster response to the sandwich led the company to remove it from its menus four years later. However, the McRib had some developed some devoted fans, prompting McDonald's to bring the sandwich in 1989. After 2006, the restaurant introduced the McRib as a seasonal item, with the sandwich occasionally appearing on menus across the country for a limited time.

The last time people had the chance to feast on a McRib was during late October last year.

“We’re always listening to our customers and we know the McRib has some of the most loyal fans,” said chef Chad Schafer, senior director of culinary innovation & commercialization at McDonald’s USA, in the statement. “This year we’re excited to give every McRib fan new ways to show their love for the sandwich with our saucy McRib GIFS so they can celebrate the season no matter where they live.”

To help celebrate the McRib's limited time run, McDonald's also created 16 Instagram story GIFs for fans to "share their excitement for the season." Users can find the McRib gifs by searching Instagram Story's gif library with #McRibSZN.
